our sustainable practices
single use mechanics - floral foamwe know floristry often involves single use materials so we do our best to approach each design with intention. we focus on reducing waste by reusing and recycling wherever we can.
We use floral foam selectively and often choose alternatives like taping, chicken wire, or moss; especially for weddings and larger installations. When foam is used, we make every effort to reuse it rather than treat it as single use.
For our returning clients, we’re always happy to take back any reusable vessels or mechanics from previous arrangements during your next delivery.
our packagingwe are continuously working toward packaging solutions that better reflect our values and reduce waste.
at this time, our arrangements are delivered using a combination of cardboard boxes, tissue paper, and protective plastic wrapping to ensure they arrive safely. we encourage you to recycle these materials whenever possible, or repurpose them for your own gift wrapping and future use.
as we grow, we remain committed to refining our packaging with more sustainable options in mind.
vase returnswe’re always looking for simple ways to reduce unnecessary waste and that includes the vessels we use every day.
if you’re a returning client, we’re happy to take back any vases from previous floreale arrangements when we deliver your next order. vases can be reused time and time again, and each one is thoroughly cleaned and prepped before being used again.
if you prefer to keep your vase, or have concerns about the value of your arrangement, there’s no need to worry. we continue to source new vessels as needed, and unless a specific vase is requested (or for weddings and events), our pricing is centered around the florals themselves, not the vessel.
drying and preserving your floralswhile fresh flowers are meant to be enjoyed in the moment, many can be dried and repurposed to last well beyond their vase life.
if you’d like to preserve your blooms, gather them into a small bundle toward the end of their life and hang them upside down in a cool, dark space for about two weeks. this simple process allows them to dry naturally while maintaining their shape.
some of our favorite stems to dry include eucalyptus, which holds its color beautifully and becomes even more fragrant over time. perfect for hanging in the shower for a spa-like feel or placing in a small vessel to add a soft, calming scent to your space. baby’s breath is another great option, drying into delicate, airy clusters that work especially well in seasonal or fall décor.
if you’re interested in preserving your arrangement, feel free to ask us which stems will dry best. we’re always happy to guide you so you can continue enjoying your flowers in a new way.
after your eventyou’re more than welcome to keep your flowers and their vessels (unless rented) after your event. if you’re looking for ways to extend the life of your blooms, we also offer a few thoughtful repurposing options.
for weddings and larger events, we can transform your arrangements into a bouquet bar toward the end of the evening, allowing guests to create and take home their own florals. (available upon request; additional fee applies.)
we also offer collection and donation services, where your flowers can be thoughtfully repurposed and delivered to a local senior center, church, hospital, or organization of your choice.
sourcing with intentionpart of what makes floristry so special is the global nature of flowers. beautiful stems are grown in regions all over the world, each bringing something unique to design.
at floreale, we embrace this while making a conscious effort to source locally whenever possible. prioritizing local flowers helps reduce transportation impact and minimizes the risk of damage during shipping, resulting in fresher, more resilient blooms.
as we continue to grow, we are actively researching and building relationships with local growers, especially during the summer months when locally grown flowers are most abundant.
always evolvingwe know we’re not perfect, and there is always room to grow. sustainability in floristry is an ongoing effort, and we are continually working to reduce waste while finding more ways to reuse and recycle wherever possible.
